Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone!!! 2011 is almost over and we are at my in-laws MIL and Grandma already went to bed, so I thought I would check in with my blogging buddies. I am so excited about Sherri's idea for a goal poster, I told hubby about it and I think we are going to make one. I am so happy to share that this is the first time in a long time that I am going into the new year feeling good about my weight. I don't know what my official year end weight is but I feel good and I am happy with how my clothes fit.

My Mom told me yesterday that she and my Dad are going  to do the bfc, whoo hoo!!! I hope they really go into it with open minds and give it a  fair shake. She told me she gained 5 lbs from Christmas goodies. One thing that really helped hubby and I this year was not having any Christmas cookies around. The things we were given are in a bag by the door to be taken to work. This holiday season I ate only two of my favorite holiday cookies, 3 peanut butter balls, and about three pieces of homemade candy. This is big for me, in the past I ate a ton of everything.

Here are some things that helped my to be successful this holiday season:
  • Red wine instead of beer or sugary mixed drinks
  • Having no Christmas goodies around
  • Celestial seasonings holiday teas with whipped cream
  • My peppermint coffee instead of starbucks peppermint mocha
  • Exercise even if it was for 20 mins at a time
  • Lots of water
  • Looking at last year's holiday pics
  • Having enough healthy food to snack on at work
  • Reminding myself that I need to stick to the bfc and not slack off because it is the holiday season
Happy New Year Everyone!!!! Big hugs to everyone!!! Let's make 2012 a wonderful year with lots of success stories.

  1. I wish your parents the best. I hope they find the kind of support we have. It's be key to me 'staying on track'. I would have given up many times without it.
Good for you for feeling good in your clothes (great feeling, right?)
    Happy 2012 Katie-you're precious.

  2. Hi Katie,
Happy New Year!! That is really great that your parents are gonna do the BFC too.
I love your list of stuff.
    Have a great day :-)

  3. Happy New Years! That's great about your parents! I am getting my family on board with me, one day and one meal at a time. That's my goal for this year, they just don't know it yet.

  4. Katie, you have so much to celebrate girl! What a proud accomplishment to see the huge steps you took to better your health in 2011 and look at your pictures!! What a huge difference!!!!
You are such a sweet gal & I can always feel the sincerity in your comments.
You are a blessing to know and have in our blogging circle! Wishing you and the hubs a very happy, healthy 2012!!!!
    Hugs to you!!!

  5. Congrats on the success you had over the Holiday's. You are catching this weight issue at a young age and developing habits that us old timers should have learned long ago. That is a very good thing! Each year that comes will bring your more knowledge and more ideas how to incorporate the healthy lifestyle. I'm excited for you!
It will be very exciting for your parents to join the BFC cure. Then your Sunday meals can be a challenge to add new and fun BFC friendly ideas.
    Happy 2012:)

  6. So glad your parents are going to try the BFC, they won't be sorry. My oldest son is going to give it another try too. I sure hope he sticks to it this time. We always want the best for those we love.

  7. Happy New Year Katie. Hope it's the best year ever! Big hugs from you to me!
