Hello everyone, March just slid on by didn't it? I didn't make as much progress as I wanted to (the scale doesn't say what I want, and my jeans fit better but not the way I want) But I have no one to blame but myself, only sometimes I was really good about portion control, exercise basically the usual offenders. Hubby and I have started watching the Biggest Loser together, and boy howdy this season is really speaking to me. In case you don't watch this season's theme is "no excuses" each week they tackle some of the most common excuses for not taking the appropriate steps to being healthy. Watching it shines a bright light on all of my excuses, some of my personal favorite excuses: I deserve to eat ___ because I never do, I had a stressful day and I need/deserve a glass of wine, I can make up for my lack of exercise or good eating tomorrow, I'm too tired to get up and work out in the morning or after work" Do any of these sound familiar to you?

Exercise is a funny thing isn't it? I am thankful that I have a hubby who shares my feelings on health/wellness. We want to be healthy fit people and hopefully by good habits we avoid having heart attacks that run on both sides of our family. I have been thinking about Diana's question about Tracy Anderson the past week, in some ways she is like Jorge because her workouts are unconventional, she works your larger muscle groups to exhaustion and then works the smaller accessory muscle groups. I know a lot of people are critical of her but I really enjoy her workouts. I recommend her Method Mat Dvd, because it involves minimal equipment (a chair and small hand weights) I don't dread it and I haven't gotten boared by it. And my hubby who knows much more about fitness than I do thinks it is a good workout. So that's my two cents on Tracy Anderson's Method Mat workout.

On other news life is good, things are starting to green up around here and I am looking forward to the Spring flowers. On Saturday we had a homemade pizza night at my folks I made the almond flour pizza for the first time and everyone thought it was tasty. I tried to take a picture of it with my new phone, but I didn't know what I was doing and I ended up taking unflattering pictures of myself and videos. LOL, I am hoping to figure things out so I can more easily take pictures to add to my blog. I guess that is all for now I hope everyone is having a nice first week of April :)

  1. I confess that little voice in my head makes excuses and you are right that we need to not make any excuses if we want to be healthier. I may try that Tracy Anderson DVD. I need something new. Hugs from me to you!

  2. The way I see excuses is this: If you are making excuses, don't beat yourself up about it, instead, change the program. By that I mean figure out the minimum that you can reasonably see yourself doing, and then do it. Examplea:If you cannot get up on a workday morning to exercise, then figure out a time you CAN wake up, like on a weekend morning and do it then. If you want some wine, have half of what you normally might. If you want an extra portion, have it, but think it through, the extra portion has a consequence, am I willing to be ok with the consequence? Set yourself up for success. Look at it in a positive way, rather than a negative way. You are not an adversary of yourself, but a supporter of yourself. Set yourself up to succeed. Every sucess, even a small one, leads to another one, and feeling good about yourself and in control of your choices is the best success of all. I hope you don't mind this comment Katie. (())'s to you.

  3. I used to use that excuse about deserving a nice meal when I went out to dinner. I would say to myself, "Oh, this is a special night, I deserve to indulge and have something good". Now when I go out I realize that something "good" can still be BFC friendly. I now try to look at it as a treat that I don't have to cook. The exercise excuses......well, I'm still working on those.

  4. I watched the Tracy Anderson sales show on Saturday. It caught my attention since you said that you are doing it. I thought it was interesting. I would like to try it too, but if I spend more money on DVD's that I don't do, my husband would have reason to be angry at me! Maybe I will check my Kindle and see if it is available...hmmm...I have been such a bad girl and I am lucky that I haven't gained a ton. I am back to Zumba, but this week is spring break and I didn't want to go to the Y with a million kids running around. Mean old lady:)
Did you hear anything on your house yet?
This morning looks interesting, at least it isn't raining yet!

  5. Its so easy to make excuses for ourselves rather than be responsible for the decisions we make. You all know mainly my exercise is walking and there are plenty of times I just don't want to go - but the dogs kind of make me every day and I am always glad they do.
    Have a great day :-)

  6. I've been making exercise excuses lately, too! With all of the exercise gizmos I have, you'd think I'd use them. I do have to say that the rebounding (mini trampoline) is really fun and makes me feel like a kid jumping on a trampoline. Why am I not using it.......It sits in the living room next to my guinea pigs and the squeaking freaks them out (that's my excuse)! hahaha! I noticed my 9 yr old is getting a little chubby in his belly so we went for an almost 3 mile walk/run an hour ago and I feel a little better since I don't usually exercise in the afternoon. Thank God the sun is out in Calif., too. The cold weather was bugging me ;)

  7. First of all I wanted to say thanks for sharing your thoughts on the dvd I have been wanting to try it, but I have to make sure I like it since I own way to many workout dvd's....lol my husband always teases me about how many I own. I love watching the biggest loser and I love the no excuse theme this year. I am not fans of all of the contestants like Conda she could get the boot and I wouldnt care lol. Hope you are having a awesome week.

  8. I love watching TBL also. I'm not a fan of Conda, but I do like the men that are left and Kim. I do think Conda just needs a little TLC so that she can learn to let her walls down and not be so abrasive. Her brother cracks me up with his LOVE of all women! :)
