Hello everyone, I have to say I really enjoyed Kay's "confession time" and Dawn's "why is that" posts. I love our little blog community, I love hearing how you all are doing in your personal lives your success's and stumbling blocks. Sticking to our low sugar/better carb diet/lifestyle is hard especially when there are so many yummy things to eat.
I believe that diet soda is terrible and even if it helps with weight loss and maintenance everyone should stay away from it. My biggest reason for saying that is that diet soda consumption is linked to depression, which is such a serious thing and should not be taken lightly. Plus all the stuff Jorge says about why we should avoid fake sugar. From a vanity point diet soda can cause hair to thin.
I agree with Kay I hate how the posts are getting farther and farther apart. I wonder if it is because a lot of bloggers feel that if they don't have positive sunshine and roses like things to say about the bfc and how they are doing no one will care. I admit I have felt this way sometimes, as if I need to toe some kinda line to be able to share.
On the meatless front I think it's good to have several healthy bfc meatless meals on hand. I wish Jorge talked more about how to do a vegetarian version of the bfc in the book. He addressed being veg in the Q & A section of the book, but most of the recipes and meal plans rely on meat.
I guess that is all for now, today is our friends wedding and I need to start getting my stuff together to go out of town. Have a wonderful day friends :)
Hi Katie. You're right that we should post even when we dont have all good things to say. I really like to just chat about other things in my blog, and not sure everyone wants to hear it if it isn't BFC related. I thinnk I will post about whatever and see how that goes! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou are very insightful:)I love hearing about everyone's world, not just BFC. One of the first things I do in the morning is check to see if anyone has posted.
ReplyDeleteIt feels good to have confession time. I also hope that I offer "hope" that it doesn't have to be all or nothing. Just mostly all!
Have a wonderful time at the wedding!
I take everything everyone says as great advice, given with a great heart! Thank you for your honest opinion. Now will I take the advice? Hmmmm...I haven't ever been very good about it:) I honestly did not see the high sodium content? I drink so much water, I don't really ever swell up.
ReplyDeleteHI Katie,
ReplyDeleteGood Post. I do agree that blogging has really helped me since I started the BFC. I even posted when I didn't like the BFC too much and I said so. But with support I just kept going.
I used to be one of those that drank at least 1 diet soda EVERY DAY!! Now that I know how bad it is - I will never drink it again.
On the vegetarian thing, I like meat too much. I don't have to eat it every day, but at least a few times a week.
Have a great weekend :-)
I am going to try to eat a few more vegetarian meals going forward - I'm just feeling weighed down a bit. So I'll try to make sure I post some about it, not just the dessert-y stuff.
ReplyDeleteI think it's important for us to blog when we're not OK, too, not just the good times. That's what's going to keep me going this winter, instead of gaining again. I know it!
Have a great Sunday!
I have to agree with you on the diet soda issue. Even when I was drinking those I knew in the back of my mind that they were not good for me. I've never really tried to eat just vegetarian meals. If any of you had some good ideas for those kinds of meals I'd love to see them & give them a try!
ReplyDeleteHey Katie, great blog today. I love hearing about other things besides the BFC. I like getting to know each other. Life has more to offer then just a diet and sometimes we might just need someone to listen to us when we are having a tough time. Thanks for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteKatie, My first post to you, I think you are the youngest of us all and I'm the oldest(75)
ReplyDeleteWe all want to look good,,,I'm so thankful to find all of you first through Amber then Rosy.
You all keep me going in spite of myself lol.
This has been a terrible week starting last Monday. My husband had to take "Willie" our little Schnauzer to the Vets. He couldn't eat,,,not like him. He was worse Tuesday Husband was working so I took Willie back,,,different Dr. She was very impatient and wanted me to make up my mind as how to treat him, I agreed to fluids and some medication to make him comfortable. I left him at the hospital until his original Dr. was to come in at 12:30. He called me at 1:30 and said it was time to let Willie go. Everything was shutting down on him. He had diabetes for 3 years and lost his sight we were amazed at how he could find his way around the house. He walked as to brush against certain areas. When going out to the yard he would walk close to the first step to feel where it was then went down 5 steps. He would always listen to where a voice was coming from to find us. He still played tug of war with a old bath mat until 3 days before he died. After he would eat his morning and evening meal he would come and stand in front of us to get his insulin shot,,, He was so smart ,He would have been 9 years old this Thursday.
Back to the Doctors call I told him I needed to call my husband, He was in the middle of pouring concrete and only had a helper with him ,He got very upset as he was My husbands boy. I called the Dr. to say I wanted to be there with him. I went right over. I held and petted him as the Dr put the medication in the intravenous tube. He just gave a big sigh and that was it. This was the hardest thing I ever did especially walking out to the waiting room to drive home. I'm sorry to dump on you it just came out when you mentioned knowing about all of us. We are still grieving a lot but the initial pain is not as bad. My husband will be 70 in a few months, but he has had to keep working (cement work is hard) in order for us to pay for all the medication and Vet bill. He also had Cushing disease. and that medicine alone was 57.00 a month. How we love our pets,,, they are part of the family. Again sorry to go on so much
Linda
